Gethsemane Lutheran Church
1873 – 2023

We Love To Tell The Story

Since Thursday, February 13, 1873, when 14 men and women gathered
in a log cabin and resolved to build a Lutheran church and congregation,
the people of what is today known as Gethsemane Lutheran Church
have been telling “the old, old story of Jesus and his love.”

These stories continue in 2023. You are invited to enjoy the following
events as we gratefully celebrate 150 years of telling our story.
Special Service and Brunch, Sunday, February 12, 2023
A special kick-off service is planned for Sunday, February 12, which is
one date before Gethsemane was founded in 1873. The service will be
followed by a brunch and, of course, coffee! Please bring any pictures of
your story to share at your table during brunch.

Read All About Gethsemane
Find out about the first 150 years, gleaned from previous anniversary
books, updated with the stories of the last 25 years and complete with
pictures, pastors and more in a special anniversary book.
Previous Pastors
Previous pastors are an integral part of Gethsemane’s story. They are
being invited to participate in worship throughout the year. Their
participation will be announced as Pastor Janine receives responses.

Gethsemane Cooks
What’s a Gethsemane story without food? Help tell the story of the food
and fellowship of Gethsemane throughout the years by sharing a recipe
to be included in a new book. If possible, include a picture of you and
the story of your recipe. The deadline for recipes is May 14, 2023. The
book will be available at a later date.

Red Rooster Days Parade, Saturday, September 2, 2023
Gethsemane has been built and supported by its people and the entire
community. Members, youth and Pastor Janine will participate in the
Dassel Red Rooster Days Parade on Saturday, September 2, 2023, and
hand out bookmarks inviting the community to worship and fellowship.

Commemorative Ornament
A limited number of original ornaments commemorating Gethsemane’s
150 years will go on sale February 12, 2023. The ornaments will be
available in time for your Christmas decorating and gift giving. Watch for
more information!

Congregational Celebration and Picture, Sunday, September 24, 2023
A congregational picture will be taken immediately following the fall
celebration worship service, which will bring to a close our anniversary
events. Pray for beautiful weather for an outdoor picture!
